The appointment requirements must be fulfilled according to §36 onwards Higher Education Act of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The appointment is initially limited to three years with the possibility of extension for another three years after a positive interim evaluation. The appointment to the position is linked to the tenure track for appointment to a W2 professorship. If the final evaluation is positive, the appointment to a W2 position is made without re-advertisement in an appropriately simplified appointment process.
