Supervision of doctoral thesis

The Chair of Management Accounting offers students with outstanding academic performance and interest in the field of management accounting the opportunity to acquire an academic qualification within a doctorate program. The PhD program typically takes four years.According to the doctoral regulation, the dissertation can be submitted either as a cumulative dissertation or as a monography. A dissertation at the Chair of Management Accounting is methodically based on the principles of a theory-driven empirical approach with a strong practical orientation.

A high quality training of young scientist as well as excellent scientific work are important goals of the Chair of Management Accounting. Therefore, the Chair provides a professional guidance and a clear structure of the doctoral project. Regularly held PhD seminars offer the opportunity to discuss research results and identify problem areas. Furthermore, the Chair of Management Accounting offers every summer the CIMA Annual Summer School titled „Experimental Research in Management Accounting“ in cooperation with the Universities of Bayreuth and Gießen. This workshop is regularly attended by internationally renowned scientists and allows doctoral students and Post-Docs to acquire methodological knowledge as well as to deepen and discuss their own research projects. An international exchange also takes place through the attendance of international conferences, which provide an excellent platform to present and discuss research results.
